Derrik T. Horman
American Sign Language/English
Deaf Studies/Interpreting
2015-2018
I was first introduced to American Sign Language (ASL) and the Deaf community while serving an LDS mission in 1991. I have studied ASL on my own, as a hobby, for 22 years. In 2013, I was asked to serve in the Deaf Program at the Jordan River Temple. This opportunity of service redirected my goals in life to pursue a formal education related to ASL and interpretation. I will graduate in May of 2018 and seek a career of teaching ASL in the secondary education environment along with interpreting.
